Happy Birthday

……to me ^^’^^’

candles

This is a big birthday. I think some refer to this as the transition from 30 something to middle age?My 30’s were terrific, hell, everyday is terrific!

“Most of us can remember a time when a birthday – especially if it was one’s own – brightened the world as if a second sun has risen.” 😎  thomas moore

Each year on my birthday I try and take a look back at myself and the year that’s behind me as well as the one that lies ahead. I do this more on my birthday than on New Year’s, as {resolutions} are easily made and just as easily broke by April :D. Reflecting on this past year, I can say there were definitely some craptastic days! Some better than other days, and some fabulous days! However, there was an abundance of personal growth, an increased awareness of myself {actually sticking up for myself ) i.e. telling someone to go ‘fuck themselves’, which for those of you who know me, know I would never had said that to someone. I did complete a couple of things on my bucket list, which is ever growing. I also started this blog, which has been another area of personal growth. So all in all I can say I am proud of where I have been, how much I have accomplished and am excited about this next year.

In addition to my bucket list, I have a couple of things on a ‘see these through’ list for this next year

  • be nicer to myself 😯 we all are our own worst critic!
  • go on more dates ~ i’m not saying be a serial dater, but make more time for dates with my friends and family
  • save an additional $50 a week. ~ i know, that is not a great deal of money, but what that will do is limit my Starbucks addiction! 😳
  • not feel guilty about buying~ a bottle of anything, bra’s, or that fabulous dress that i will wear maybe….twice 😉
  • have a little more patience~ this is a doozy! Like this is life changing, how in the hell am i going to do this, doozy!!

So if your reading this blog today, April 12th, I ask that for my birthday ‘gift’ you remind yourself of one thing you are grateful for! And if you will post that. To me, that is such a wonderful gift! We are all grateful, sometimes we just forget to remind ourselves of what we have and not focus on what we have not. So cheers to my birthday 🍸 ⭐ 🍸 ⭐ 🍸 ⭐ and the excitement of beginning a new decade.

Oh, I missed your birthday! Happy, happy birthday! I hope you had a great day! I am turning 40 in a couple of months, and it is a special date, for sure.

As for things I am grateful for lately, it must be the man who came into my life recently and suddenly declared his love to me and said it is ok that I don’t love him back, but that he will forever be grateful for me showing him that he is not alone – he said I made him believe in humanity again. It meant so much for me, that somebody was reasonable and sweet when I said I was not ready for a relationship, and he still didn’t take back his words, just smiled and said it was ok. I am not used to mature men the last years… I am growing fond of this man in a very special way. Maybe he isn’t meant for me as a partner, but he is meant to remind me that humanity is still a beautiful race.

Happiest of birthdays dear Tela. It’s not April 12th any more, but I nevertheless will say that i am grateful for my newly developing community of WP friends , including YOU, and I am grateful you share your journey with us all.

At the same time, at 72, I roll on the floor laughing at the thought that 40 is middle age. Try, well, maybe 55. That’s when things started to change. Enjoy yourself dear, and have a great year!
    Hugs,
    Gerry

My dearest Gerry~thank you so much! And I’m not to sure about 40 being the ‘middle age’ either, as I still feel like I did last week 😉 . And I hope this next year I will be reading your book!!! ~hugs~

You are so sweet. I hope so too. I read all these ads for “write your book in 6 weeks” etc and , well, I guess I’m not that organized, or I have to dig deeper, one of the two.

Write a book in six weeks???!!!! No possible way! Well I suppose it is….if you only want to put into it cliff notes. 😯

Happy Birthday Chick! Great blog, inspiring and compassionate. Long may you continue to flourish xxx
As I’m at the VERY beginning of my recovery I have found my friends and family invaluable. They orientate me to reality and are quick to spot his subterfuge. No contact has escalated his awfulness (needless to say he doesn’t realise each keystroke betrays his state of mind). Tomorrow I submit divorce petition… I’m waiting for fireworks. I’ll be revisiting your wonderful blog for support.

Happy birthday lovely lady! I am grateful for two things right now (yes, I am a rebel, so break the rules :)): my son and my WP ‘family’ – to include you! Both help to keep me sane.

    Hope you’re having a fabulous day. ❤
